A research library for the next reading

From records
to richer places.

Find the plans behind the model.
See what a new study would need.

Published drawings, excavation reports, documentary images and spatial datasets support different kinds of understanding. Their consultation and reuse limits remain attached to each record.

Counts describe this bounded register, not a census of all publications or available illustrations. Future places are research opportunities, not completed atlas studies.

What can this record support?

Opening an archive is different from inspecting its drawings. A downloadable file is different from permission to reproduce, adapt or model it.

An editorial sequence, with evidence gates

Where to deepen.
Where to begin.

Priorities compare the verified resource bundles in this review. Rich documentation and readiness to publish a reconstruction are different judgments.

Context, surface and structure

Aerial views need
a scale of reading.

Aerial photographs, orthomosaics, satellite scenes and surface models are separate records. Pixel size does not establish positional accuracy or the date of every visible feature.

01

Landscape context

Regional satellite imagery can locate waterways, coasts, terrain and present land use. A 10-metre pixel does not resolve individual ancient walls. Record provider, acquisition date and reuse terms.

02

Site surface

High-resolution orthophotos can support a current-state overview when their ground sampling, date, coordinate system and positional accuracy are documented. Restorations, vegetation and occlusion remain part of that view.

03

Architecture and sequence

Use excavation plans, sections, elevations and reports to identify structures and phases. A surface model includes visible buildings and vegetation; it is not automatically a bare-earth terrain model or an ancient elevation.

Before an image becomes a model input

Image/model adjacency is a reading aid. Registered alignment needs independent survey or camera evidence. New resource records do not retrospectively become the sources of an existing model.
