Heading Antiochus III recognizes the games of Artemis Leucophryene at Magnesia as crowned and isopythian, c.207-205 BCE (Welles RC 31 = OGIS 231).

§I. The recognition of the Leucophryene games King Antiochus to the council and the people of Magnesia, greeting. Demophon and Philiscus and Pheres, the envoys (theoroi) sent by you to us to proclaim the games and the other honours which your people have voted to perform for the foundress of the city, Artemis Leucophryene, met us in Antioch in Persis, delivered your decree, and themselves spoke with enthusiasm in accordance with its contents, inviting us to recognize as 'crowned' (stephanitic) and of Pythian rank the games which you hold in honour of the goddess every four years. Since we have had from the beginning the kindliest feeling toward your people, because of the goodwill you have shown on all occasions to us and to our state, and since we wish to make our policy clear, we accept the honours voted by you to the goddess, and it is our purpose to help increase them in whatever matters you may call to our attention or we ourselves may think of. We have written also to those set over affairs (our officials), so that the cities too may, accordingly, give their recognition. Farewell.

§II. Cretan koinon decree — Magnesia 40-41, fragment A From the koinon of the Cretans. It was decided by the koinon of the Cretans, with all the poleis having assembled at Bilkon, at the sanctuary of Apollo Bilkonios, when the Gortynians were presiding, in the kosmos-ship of Kydas son of Kynnios: since the Magnesians are kin and friends of all the Cretans, and since some of them have resolved to send a colony to Asia, that the Magnesians shall have the most intimate kinship and unaging friendship from all of us, and dining-rights in the prytaneion, and shall have exemption from import-and-export-duties, both inviolably and without treaty across all Crete, and ektesis and citizenship; that to each polis they shall give four talents of silver and processed grain and as many sacrificial animals as they wish for sacrifice; that they shall escort them to Asia with long warships and send with them up to five hundred bowmen; that they shall send and embrace them and the men and the boys and the women according to their age and the priests and priestesses. And that this decree be inscribed on a stone stele and set up at the sanctuary of Apollo Bilkonios...
