Meleager to the council and people of Ilion, greeting. Aristodikides of Assos delivered to us letters from king Antiochus, copies of which we have appended below for you. He has himself informed us, saying that — though many others were negotiating with him and others making offers, as we too are aware (since some of the cities have also sent embassies to us) — he wishes the land given to him by king Antiochus to be attached to your city, both for the sake of the sanctuary and for his goodwill toward you. What he asks to receive from the city he will explain to you himself. You would do well to vote him all the honours and, in whatever he agrees, to make the record and set it up on a stele and place it in the sanctuary, so that the grants may remain securely yours for all time. King Antiochus to Meleager, greeting. We have given to Aristodicides of Assus two thousand plethra of cultivable land, to join to the city of Ilium or Scepsis. Do you therefore give orders to convey to Aristodicides — from the land adjacent to that of Gergis or of Scepsis, wherever you think best — the two thousand plethra of land, and to add them to the boundaries of Ilium or of Scepsis. Farewell.

King Antiochus to Meleager, greeting. Aristodicides of Assus has come to us, asking us to give him, in the Hellespontine satrapy, Petra (which formerly Meleager held) and, of the land of Petra, fifteen hundred plethra of cultivable land, and two thousand other plethra of cultivable land from the country adjacent to the 'lot' formerly given to him. And we have given him both Petra — unless it has already been given to someone else — and two thousand plethra of cultivable land besides, because as our 'friend' he has rendered us his services with all good-will and enthusiasm. Do you therefore, having investigated, if this Petra has not already been given to someone else, convey it with its land to Aristodicides; and from the crown land adjacent to the land formerly given to him give orders for the surveying and conveyance to him of two thousand plethra, and let him be permitted to join his holding to any of the cities he wishes in our country and alliance. If the crown peasants of the region in which Petra lies wish to live in Petra for safety, we have ordered Aristodicides to let them do so. Farewell.

King Antiochus to Meleager, greeting. Aristodicides has come to us, saying that — because it had been assigned to Athenaeus the commander of the naval station — he has not even yet received the place Petra and the land belonging to it, about which we previously wrote giving it to him; and he has asked that there be conveyed to him, instead of the land of Petra, the same number of plethra elsewhere, and that there be granted to him two thousand plethra besides, which he may join to whichever of the cities in our alliance he wishes, just as we wrote before. Seeing therefore that he is loyal and enthusiastic in our interest, we wish to look after the man, and have agreed about these things. He says the land of Petra granted to him is fifteen hundred plethra. Give orders therefore to survey and convey to Aristodicides the fifteen hundred plethra, and, in place of the land about Petra, another fifteen hundred plethra of cultivable land from the crown land adjacent to that given to him at first by us; and permit Aristodicides to attach the land to whichever city in our alliance he wishes, just as we wrote in the previous letter.
