King Lysimachus — one of Alexander's Successors — answers an embassy from Priene led by Antisthenes. He praises the city's goodwill and its steadfast loyalty: it held fast to his interests, obeyed his general Sosthenes willingly, and never wavered even when its territory was being ravaged by the Magnesians and the soldiers campaigning with them. Wishing to look after the Prienians both collectively and individually, and judging it to his own advantage that they remain his friends as before, he grants what their envoys requested — though the specific favours are lost in the damaged lower lines.
