Riggsby distinguishes evidence for Caesar’s surviving text from evidence for the war it describes, and treats comparison with other discourse as a way to study textual meaning.
Evidence limit: Different witnesses need not be independent. Comparing passages does not establish that their events, dates or arguments are equivalent.
