Two complementary witnesses of the same c. 208/205 BCE diplomatic event: Magnesia-on-the-Maeander's campaign to secure asylia + recognition of its Artemis Leucophryene games. The royal half is Welles 1934 doc 31 — Antiochus III to Magnesia, accepting the city's embassy. The civic half is the Cretan koinon decree Magnesia 40-41 (= I.Magnesia 20-21), recording the koinon's parallel grant of asylia + privileges. Together they show the cross-genre diplomatic choreography (royal letter ↔ federal-koinon decree) by which Magnesia coordinated its Mediterranean-wide asylia recognition campaign.[ZH pending]
