Res Gestae Divi Augusti
Augustus's first-person record of his achievements — and the only document in this corpus preserved as a bilingual monument: the Latin original and a Greek paraphrase, inscribed together on the Monumentum Ancyranum.
The document文献
Composed in the first person and completed at Augustus's death in AD 14, the Res Gestae (the "achievements") were set up on bronze pillars before his Mausoleum in Rome and copied across the empire. The fullest surviving copies are in Roman Galatia — the Monumentum Ancyranum at Ancyra (Latin + Greek), with further fragments at Antioch (Latin) and Apollonia (Greek). It is at once an autobiography, an elogium, and an imperial account-of-office — the apex of the documents gathered in this corpus.
