The reading text is that of PHI 1366 (epigraphy.packhum.org/text/1366), which transmits the IG I³ 1204 text; line division, brackets, interpuncts and diacritics stand as PHI prints them, and nothing has been silently altered. Letters outside brackets are read on the stone; letters inside brackets are editorial restorations transmitted with the text. The translation is this edition’s own and is marked as such; the editorial work in text and restorations belongs to the editions cited under Witnesses.

Apparatus and notes · 校记与注 (逐条系于所出)

  1. 1 ℎὸστείχε[ι]ς So the stone, without word-division; PHI prints the editorial resolution ℎὸς (σ)τείχε[ι]ς alongside. The parenthesis registers a sigma the cutter did not carve (or abbreviated): the 2015 course write-up, comparing a second squeeze of this stone in the Ohio State digital squeeze collection (hdl.handle.net/2374.OX/884), reports a faint fourth bar making the sigma four-barred where lines 2–3 use three-barred sigma throughout, and weighs elision, abbreviation, and a space-saving alignment as explanations; the verb wanted is στείχεις.
    石面连书,无词界;PHI 并印编者析读 ℎὸς(σ)τείχε[ι]ς。圆括号所记为刻工未刻(或省刻)之西格玛:2015 年课程作业比对俄亥俄州立大学数字压印库中本石之另一压印(hdl.handle.net/2374.OX/884),报告此处西格玛隐有第四横,而第 2–3 行通用三横西格玛,并权衡省音、缩写与省位对齐诸解;所需动词为 στείχεις。
  2. 2 ἄλ(λ)α ∶ μενοινο͂ν Single lambda on the stone for ἄλλα; μενοινο͂ν with omicron for omega. The write-up notes the effort to align this phrase with the letters of the line above — a quasi-stoichedon arrangement (Woodhead’s term) with ruled interlines but no strict grid.
    ἄλλα 石面单写一个 λ;μενοινο͂ν 以 ο 代 ω。课程作业记有使此语与上行字母对齐之努力:有界栏而无严格网格,即伍德海德所谓准整行(quasi-stoichedon)。
  3. 3 στε͂θι καὶ οἴκτιρον The paired aorist imperatives are formulaic in funerary epigram; the write-up compares CEG 27, the base associated with the Anavyssos kouros. The measurements it takes from the squeeze: inscribed field max. 0.77 m wide, 0.12–0.17 m high; line 2, between its ruled interlines, 0.04 m; round letters uniformly 0.03 m.
    成对之不定过去时命令式为墓志铭套语;作业比及 CEG 27,即阿纳维索斯少年像之基座。其量自压印之尺寸:刻面最宽 0.77 米,高 0.12–0.17 米;第 2 行界栏间 0.04 米;圆形字母一律 0.03 米。
