Register the image, then test the fit.
Use a plan, orthophoto or approximately planar section. Oblique field photographs require calibrated photogrammetry or appropriate perspective rectification before metric use.
Original bytes remain local, with their SHA-256 and orientation. JPEG/MPO primary images are displayed; additional frames are preserved. 25 megapixels / 64 MB maximum. Published scans need an explicit reuse assessment before distribution.

Three non-collinear fit points can give an exact fit with no redundancy. A low fit residual does not establish independent accuracy. A singular target transform is unsuitable for spatial registration.

Pale baseline anchors derive from current OpenStreetMap context. They are not surveyed ancient building locations. A point bound is displayed only when declared; it is not a statistical confidence circle. No ancient coastline is supplied.

Each feature needs id, label, source, locator, method, role (survey / interpretation / camera / context), review: unreviewed, and uncertainty. Use {"kind":"unknown","radius_m":null}, or a positive declared-bound radius in metres with its source basis. Supported geometry: Point, LineString, Polygon with exactly closed rings. Topology and archaeological identity still require review.
Metric image transforms remain in project JSON. GeoJSON export uses longitude, latitude and no CRS override or undeclared vertical coordinate.
