Date provenance — cross-checked against the reference works

Every dated ruler, event, person and text is reconciled against authoritative reference works — Kienast (Römische Kaisertabelle), the Cambridge Ancient History, Brill's New Pauly Supplements I (Eder, Chronologies of the Ancient World) and II (Landfester, Authors & Texts), and the OCD. Each date is typed by how it is corroborated; where an authority conflicts, it is surfaced, never hidden.

Reference works are tertiary. An encyclopedia date is itself a scholarly synthesis — it corroborates, it never overrides a dated inscription or papyrus. This is a curated subset of an auditable review queue; the per-entry excerpt is the verbatim source text the match rests on (supplement tables are OCR-imperfect — treated as oracle unless a clean verbatim reign was parsed).
