Eratosthenes of Cyrene

FGrH 241 (diaphragma) — Eratosthenes, Geographika — main parallel / diaphragma through Rhodes (Strabo, Geographica 2.1.1)  Converged + audit-sound
In the third book of his Geography, setting out the map of the inhabited world, he divides it in two by a line from west to east parallel to the equinoctial line ... He draws the line from the Pillars through the Sicilian strait and the southern capes of the Peloponnese and Attica, as far as Rhodes and the Issic Gulf ... along the Taurus as far as India; for the Taurus, stretched in a straight line with the sea from the Pillars, divides all Asia lengthwise.

Apparatus — BNJ base vs open-corpus witness

Base text after Brill’s New Jacoby / Jacoby (FGrH). The apparatus records differences against the open-corpus witness (Strabo 2.1.1 (Scaife/Perseus grc2, FULL)) within the overlapping span; encoding and orthography are folded. Collation codepoint-verified and adversarially audited (2026-06-26).
