Vercingetorix
Person
Caesar introduces Vercingetorix through Arvernian aristocratic kinship, opposition to his mobilisation and his acquisition of command. The later surrender closes the siege narrative through Caesar’s perspective. His leadership and the coalition’s changing composition should be read through the intervening passages rather than represented as a timeless national state.
